What was she trying to say????

Okay, this is hilarious. I don't know if you've heard yet, but Teen Miss South Carolina is hitting the news. I feel bad for her and all the teasing she must be getting. But answer me this: what do you think she's trying to say???

Lots of Love

At least, that's what Abby calls it. You know I like to brag on my friends that give their glorious hair to Locks of Love; so here's another. Abby is a special friend living with the Gibsons (soon to be part of the family, we hope!). She's been growing her hair and just donated it. She started 1st grade last week with a grown-up haircut. I wish I had a picture of the fixed version of her hair; it's the cutest thing. But here are pictures from her donation:

Sad news about New York

It's so hard to write- I can't go to NYC this year. The landlords won't let me. This past Wed.-Sat. I was in NY, working on finding an apt. Well, I need to make 40x the monthly rent- which is $60,000. I have to prove this with last year's taxes, pay stubs, and a letter from my boss. Well since I didn't get a teaching job, and I was going to be a waitress, I'd need a co-signer (of whom will have to make 80x the rent). Long story short, my dad owns his own business, doesn't file taxes til Oct., accountant hasn't even started '06 taxes. So no co-signer. Fine with that. I'll try anyway. My broker said I could get a bigger place in Brooklyn. I got on Craigslist, called about 20 people. Of the 5 that called me back, they all said the same thing. I even met with one more broker, and he said it couldn't be done. They said landlords don't think serving (which I'd make $3-4K a month) is a real job. He asked if I had a year's rent up front- that some landlords would accept that. They don't care about my excellent credit, that I own a house. The courts lean towards the tenants. It takes 6 mos. to get a courtdate to evict someone while they are living there for free. So landlords make you jump through hoops to get an apt. I even asked random people that work at retail stores or at restaurants where they live- the Bronx, with parents, with roommates. I was so frustrated. I bawled my eyes out Wed. night. Then a little more Th. I called my old boss and said, "Do... you... have.. any job.... openings?" (amidst sniffles and tears). He'll see what he can do. I'll find a job somewhere in the county.
I prayed for God to let me move there, but if I shouldn't to make it impossible. It's funny- when someone tells me no, I work even harder to get what I want. But I won't do this with God- I asked for His hand. I'm not as depressed as I'd expect (planning this since April). Maybe I'll try to go in the next year or two. I'll just make sure I have a job before I move! =)
My mom was with me and we ended up being tourists the rest of the weekend. Here are some pictures from our trip:

Drinking a frozen hot chocolate at Serendipity. Yum! I actually tried to drink most of it and ended up with a stomachache! =)

We saw Mary Poppins Friday night. They changed it quite a bit from the movie, but it was still cool.
We went to the MET (Metropolitan Museum of Art), which was wonderful for me. I love art. I nearly cried when I saw this picture. I couldn't believe I was looking at the original. I also saw Monet (Water Lilies!!!), Seurat (my favorite), Degas, van Gogh, Matisse, Renoir... I could go on. It was great!!!
Well, I guess we'll see what happens next. I'll keep you updated!
